Start the day taking in the fresh air on quiet slopes in St Christoph

Whichever resort you are staying in, starting Christmas Day by heading out onto the slopes is a fabulous way to kick off the celebrations. The slopes are generally quiet on Christmas morning and by the time you come home for a big Christmas lunch or dinner you will have worked up a massive appetite!

If you decided to book the beautiful Crux Penthouse in St Christoph in the heart of the St. Anton and Lech piste network, you are best suited to do just this. Located just metres from the piste Crux Penthouse is a super option for those who love their skiing. After skiing Christmas morning, return to the highly reputed Hospiz Alms restaurant where they’ll be offering a special Christmas menu featuring roasted goose as the main course.

Live the Dream with a snow table picnic in Verbier

Let us organise (together with out partner Kando Events) a special afternoon lunch on the mountain with a snow-table picnic where you will be greeted by a butler in a tailcoat with champagne on a silver tray and then guided on skis to your secret dining location with spectacular views. This is an ideal way for a group of friends or family to be exclusively entertained in the incredible mountain setting of Verbier.

… or take a hike to St. Christoph

Choose to swop your ski boots for some walking shoes and embark on an adventure to St. Christoph. The journey there will take you through an enchanting forest where you may even be lucky enough to spot some of Verbier’s other local residents; marmots.

Envelope your senses in the incredible smell of fresh pine, and the sublime silence found on this hike. As if that is not enough, you will not be disappointed when you reach the top. St. Christoph is famous for having breath-taking views encompassing the length of the valley, and vistas across towards France and Italy. Take in the expansive views or, step inside the traditional Swiss mountain chapel where you can enjoy a few quiet moments of contemplation.

Normally these wild native deer are very shy forest dwellers which you seldom get a chance to see. But with the winter set in they venture closer to settled areas and forget their fear of people. Take advantage of expert local knowledge  and take a hike to a hide in the forest surrounding Lech, from which to take shelter and observe the wildlife first hand.

Go on a snowmobile tour in Méribel

After you have finished your day of skiing on the fantastic pistes of the Méribel, Val d’Isère and Les 3 Vallées, why not try your hand at the adrenalin-packed activity of driving a 500cc two seater snowmobile. Whether you are a beginner or you have experience you will receive expert instruction and tuition so that you can quickly get to grips with handling the machine and enjoying the buzz and adrenalin of being in control of these ‘snow motorbikes’ on a moonlit evening.

Outdoor ice skating in Zermatt

In Zermatt, weather permitting, you could ice skate on Christmas day at the Obere Matten outdoor ice rink. Young and old will delight in this classic past time and it’s a fabulous way to spend time together as a family while being active. The rink is located in the centre of the village and the atmosphere never fails to be jovial. Reward yourselves with a festive hot chocolate or a gluwein in one of the cosy cafes on the high street before returning to the lavish comfort of the chalet to indulge in more Christmas cheer.
