Property of the Month: Brand-New Chalet Etoile du Nord, Val D’Isère

Launching for the 2023, and comprising two adjoining new chalets (East Wing and West Wing), Etoile du Nord is a breathtaking newly-built development in Val d’Isère,  now available to rent exclusively through Haute Montagne on a weekly basis. On top of this exciting news, it is also currently available for some of the most popular weeks of the upcoming skiing months, including the February Half Term. 

Now available to rent for this season, these two spectacular new chalets are situated in the centrally located enclave known as Petite Alaska – just a ten-minute walk or a two-minute drive to the slopes, and a short stroll to Val d’Isère’s renowned bars, restaurants, and shops. 

Etoile Du Nord – East Wing

A day at the all-new chalet Etoile Du Nord – East Wing begins as you awaken in one of the seven sumptuous en-suite bedrooms, then step out onto the stunning balcony, and gaze across the peaks with a steaming hot coffee in hand. With incredible in-chalet spa and entertainment facilities, and sleeping up to 12+2 guests, it is the perfect property to enjoy quality time with family and friends.

The open-plan living, dining and kitchen space is designed for entertaining and enjoying, the heart of the home where everyone can come together and regale memories from snowy days spent on the mountain. A sanctuary fitted with vast floor-to-ceiling windows, here you will find a generous seating area, with large comfortable sofas, the wood-burning fireplace set beneath a stunning faceted chimney breast, a marble coffee table, wall-mounted TV, and soft lighting provided by the individual table and floor lamps.

Fabulous design continues in the seven generous bedrooms, where ceilings are beautifully framed with contemporary panelling, and fabulous wallpapers offer both softness and sophistication. All bedrooms feature en-suite marble bathrooms, some with vast walk-in showers, others with beautiful baths from which to enjoy a post-slope soak while listening to your favourite podcast (Sonos is built-in throughout the chalet). Three of the seven bedrooms offer ‘Zip’n’Lock’ beds which can be converted from large doubles to singles where required. In addition, there is a large bunk room neighbouring the sleek cinema room, divisible by a sliding wooden door, making it the perfect den for little ones.

One of the most remarkable elements of this beautiful new chalet is the 6m x 2.7m indoor-outdoor swimming pool. Separated from the elements via a retractable glass wall which can be lowered or lifted, the pool provides swimmers with absolute peace and privacy. Take a swim outside in the snow, or stay in the warmth and peer down to view the extraordinary underwater Perspex window which directly overlooks the cinema room. Be it a sunrise soak or a nighttime paddle, this serene pool will work wonders for the body and mind. 

After long hikes or ski days when your muscles need soothing, there is a hammam that you can retreat to. In the spa, you will also find a shower, a relaxation zone, a massage room and a Peloton bike. An outdoor terrace with a hot tub is also accessed directly from the spa, and you’ll find a further hot tub on the private balcony of the master suite, for romantic Champagne evenings under the stars.

Etoile Du Nord – West Wing

Sleeping up to 14 guests, Etoile Du Nord – West Wing is an astounding private home situated a stone’s throw from the heart of Val d’Isère. A tribute to luxury chalet architecture, the stylish design of this mountain treasure is unparalleled. Set against an astounding alpine backdrop, the contemporary interior of this home strikes the perfect balance between modern luxe and old-time cosiness, with the in-chalet wellness facilities making it a haven for relaxation.

As you step foot into the chalet on the first floor, you will find the remarkable open-plan living and dining areas and kitchen. This state-of-the-art space is bright and roomy, drenched in winter sunlight that spills through the frameless panoramic windows surrounding the living area. After the perfect ski day, come home to a freshly baked afternoon tea if you are staying on a catered basis, and relax here with your favourite holiday read. 

The terrace can be accessed from this area, ideal for taking in the scenery with a morning coffee or afternoon apèro. The open-plan kitchen is bordered by a sleek island, where you can sip cocktails and nibble on canapes as you watch your experienced private chef whip up your favourite dishes. In the afternoon, you and the children can venture out to discover Le Village Perdu, with its maze of suspended walkways and wooden huts high up in the trees. 

Moving to the ground floor, there is a hammam and a sauna in the serene spa. With a heated swimming pool and a relaxation area complete with loungers, this is a tranquil sanctuary for post-skiing relaxation. Allow your concierge to arrange soothing treatments for you in the privacy of your chalet, from a sports massage to beauty treatments in the adjacent massage room. Also on this floor are three exquisite bedrooms, two are fixed doubles and the third can be transformed into a twin if required. 

One floor lower, there are two further bedrooms and the cinema room of this exceptional new chalet. The double bedroom boasts an en-suite bathroom, whilst those staying in the bunk bedroom have full use of a bathroom with a separate shower just down the corridor. Fitted with a huge flat-screen TV, plush sofas, a sleek bar area and a window allowing an underwater view to the swimming pool, you can gather in the cinema/games room for wonderful after-dinner games nights, cocktails or movie marathons together.

On returning home, the master bedroom’s outdoor hot tub means that guests can soak up the phenomenal views from all angles and unwind. The master en-suite bathroom with a freestanding bathtub and rain shower has been finished in ecru marble, with brushed-gold fixtures making for an ultra-luxurious experience.

In the evening, head to the Michelin-star-rated La Table de l’Ours. A true gastro experience overseen by chef Antoine Gras, delight in specialities such as scampi roasted with ginger and lime. Or, if you choose to stay in, you can gather with friends and loved ones around the 12-seater table, sharing good conversation, delicious home-cooked meals and a bottle of Savoyard wine.
