When is the start of the ski season in Verbier?

One of the questions we get asked most frequently at Bramble Ski is, ‘when is the start of the ski season in Verbier?’. It’s an important question for many of our ski-loving visitors, so we thought we would answer it here. Although the exact dates do vary year-to-year, here is a guide to timing your ski holiday with us perfectly so that you experience all the snow and adrenaline of the slopes at their best.

 Ski season in Verbier

In 2014-2015, the ski season in Verbier is predicted to begin on the 29th of November, running through until the 3rd of May. Verbier is a resort which offers some of the best snow coverage in the world for a large portion of the year with a generously long ski season. However, visiting the resort during the peak ski season will guarantee the most dramatic runs, allowing you to develop your skiing skills to their full potential. The average snowfall is set to be around 841 cm.

The majority of the ski season in Verbier experiences crisp, bright sunshine and snowy conditions. During your stay, you can consult the Swiss Met office website, MeteoSwiss. This resource provides dependable local forecasts, allowing you to plan your day around the weather. However, at Bramble Ski you will be consulted each day by your ski concierge, who will inform you of the exact ski conditions every morning, organising your day’s activities and even providing two days of expert ski instruction if you are staying in a luxury chalet Verbier.

When Verbier comes alive

Verbier’s ski season is also host to a number of exciting specialist events. For example, in January, one of the most famous freeskiing competitions in the world, Verbier Ride, is held in the La Chaux snow park, and towards the end of the season in April, the XSpeed ski races take place, where participants ski at up to 200km per hour from the lofty 3300 metre heights of Mont Fort.

Whether you are planning to visit in December for that extra special Christmas ski holiday, or in April during the school Easter break, there will be plenty of snow sports activities to see and take part in during the incredible ski season in Verbier.
