Ski into Spring: 8 of the Best Alpine Properties Available in March

Say hello to holidaying on the sun-drenched snowy slopes and enjoy a memorable mountain escape this spring. With the sunny spring days fast approaching, let us remind you why spring skiing is so fantastic, and discover the 8 best Alpine properties available in March.

Late-season skiing guarantees high visibility on the runs and some of the best snow conditions of the winter months. In fact, fluffy, powder snowfalls tend to come through March and April. Last year we saw an average of 33 cm of fresh snowfall throughout March here in Verbier. With the arrival of the spring equinox, you can make the most of enjoying fabulous snow conditions on the slopes. Make the most of the longer hours of daylight as you delight in lingering lunches and refreshing drinks on warm, sun-drenched terraces. Not to mention, thanks to generally lower demand at this time of the season, you can be far more flexible with how you spend your holiday. Read on to discover our properties available in March to suit whatever your needs, for an ultra memorable and luxurious spring ski trip!

Chalet Grand CÅ“ur, Verbier

Sleeping up to eight, Chalet Grand Cœur in Verbier is the perfect retreat for a family ski holiday, offering a chic, comforting ambience and luxurious private facilities including a heated outdoor pool. Less than a 1-minute drive from the Savoleyres lift station, explore the vast 410 km of pistes making up the 4 Vallées ski area and stop to soak up the rays with a delicious Swiss lunch at one of the wonderful on-mountain restaurants, such as Le Dahu. For the early birds, allow us to arrange an early-morning ski tour for you with an experienced guide, and admire the pinkish hues of the sky as you make your way down the mountain at sunrise. Don’t miss the grand finale of the Freeride World Tour (March 25th-April 2nd); we recommend finding a perch at Les Gentianes (also accessible for non-skiers!), for the best spot marvelling at seemingly impossible freeriding on the Bec des Rosses.

Chalet Shalimar, Zermatt

Some of Zermatt’s largest and most extreme skiing areas including Stockhorn and Triftji only open from February, as an abundance of snow is required to blanket their advanced slopes. This makes March an ideal time to visit one of the highest ski resorts in Switzerland and Europe, to get your adrenaline fix. For a much-needed sugar hit to refuel, why not spend the afternoon sampling heavenly Cremeschnitte custard pastries at the likes of Zum See? Indulge in wood-fired calzone pizza or seafood tagliolini at Grampi’s, a family-friendly Italian restaurant. In the afternoon, sit on the spacious balcony or terrace of Chalet Shalimar — which is able to entertain a total of 20 guests — and embrace the spectacular views of the Matterhorn as you top up your tan and sip on an Aperol spritz. Make use of the fantastic private spa facilities with everything you could need to unwind, including an indoor swimming pool, sauna, hammam and massage room.
